How to Trace a Bitmap to a vector image in Corel Draw

Before coming to our tutorial about tracing bitmap or a JPG image let’s just clear how it works. An image is nothing but a bitmap or which is having a definite pixel rate and when we zoom an image, to an extent it will give you a clear view of what you exactly want to see. But after that u may see boxes of pixels, your software is capable of zooming to that extent. But in case of a Vector image you couldn’t see any boxes because it is made up of colors not pixels.
Let’s now see how this tracing thing works. Open your software- Corel Draw- with your application shortcut if you are going to start with a new file or if you want to work with your previous document, open it from your desktop. Now I’m going to show you with a new document.
Click on the “New Document” label which you see just after opening your software.

When a new document is created, look for an IMPORT option in your “File” tab at the top. You can also type “Ctrl + I”, which is the shortcut for “IMPORTING A BITMAP” in Corel Draw.

A popup window will be displayed where you can select an image from gallery. Then click “IMPORT” to import the selected image.

Double left Click on mouse and drag your cursor to make a rectangle outline where you want your image to be displayed. Or else you can also just click somewhere on your document and the image will display in a definite size at the center
At the top click on “Trace Bitmap” Button where three option will display.
Quick Trace
Centerline Trace
Outline Trace
You will learn quick trace which is the simplest way to trace a bitmap and we will go through the other traces in coming tutorials.
You will get a clear vector image just after clicking “Quick trace “button. Now you can separate your Vector image which will be at the top of your original image.

There are many other options available in Corel Draw and also in other software for sure, to do a quick trace
You can understand much better through a video.
